HIRAM

Safety risk management is the identification, analysis and mitigation of risk associated with the operation of an organization. It aims at a balanced allocation of resources to address all risk and ensure that viable risk control and mitigation actions are in place. Risk management is a key component of safety management sistem. It is a data-driven approach to safety assessment resources allocation i.e. priority is accorded to activities based on their risk index. Safety risk management is also referred to as HIRAM (Hazard Identification, Risk Assessment & Mitigation), the following is the flow process of HIRAM.

Hazard and Risk Assessments are conducted during introduction and deployment of new technologies, change or implementation of procedures, or in situations of structural change in operations. Safety reviews are a fundamental component of the management of change. HIRAM are conducted by Quality Assurance and Safety and/or Safety Action Groups (SAG), which look for effective performance of the following safety management activities under the proposed changes :

  • Hazard Identification and Safety Risk Assessment / Mitigation
  • Safety Measurement
  • Manager Accountabilities
  • Operational Personal Skills
  • Technical Systems
  • Abnormal Operations
