Internal Risk Assessment
- May 2022

Threats and errors can potentially arise in maintenance activities. In Safety Risk Management (SRM), there is one tool that can increase the Safety Level, namely by conducting an Internal Risk Assessment or commonly known as an IRA. This tool is a process of identifying oneself/unit/own service (me/us) from hazards that arise in the work area. Of course, IRA is expected to be able to increase awareness of each individual/unit/department because the identified hazard is still within the internal scope with risk exposure tends to be lower than if the hazard has an impact on other units/services (them).

For example, there is a condition where when carrying out maintenance activities, the tools used by the Maintenance Personnel are not feasible and are in a damaged condition. From this case, when referring to Error Management where there are 3 Types of Maturity of Errors, then the Point of View is divided into 1st Age, 2nd Age, and 3rd Age, namely:

With the IRA carried out by every personnel with a point of view from the 3rd age, of course, it can minimize the potential hazards that have an impact on the work area. In addition, each personnel have a role to maintain safety in their respective work areas.
