Safety Performance Indicator (SPI)
- February 2022
Safety Performance Indicator (SPI) is an indicator made by a Service Provider such as GMF and approved by the aviation authority as a benchmark in determining the safety level in the organization. |
Safety Performance Indicators are divided into 2 kinds of indicators, that is Lagging Indicator (Outcome Oriented) and Leading Indicator (Process Oriented). For Lagging Indicator might be related to Incident/Accident Rate, Maintenance Error Rate, Etc. Then, for Leading Indicator might be related to Voluntary Report Rate, Finding Rate, Risk Value/Risk Rate, Etc.

For indicators that have been set up, then targets are made and monitoring is carried out. The targets made are monitored throughout the year so that the safety level can be achieved. Along the way, there may be deviations, therefore apart from setting targets, alert levels are also made if there is a trend in data from the previous year. An alert level is created so that the company is more aware if there is a deviation during the SPI monitoring period. [TQY] |
