Hazard Identification through MLOSA
- December 2022

The responsibility of the MRO industry is to ensure that aircraft maintenance must comply with procedures and be safe for flight. Moreover, it also must ensure that every maintenance activity is carried out safely. The potential for threats and errors to arise in maintenance activities can occur at any time and to anyone if threats and errors are not properly mitigated.

Maintenance Line Operation Safety Assessment (MLOSA) is a tool to identify hazards earlier during the aircraft maintenance process and it is non-punitive in nature. MLOSA is able to predict threats and errors in the maintenance process by observing the implementation of maintenance tasks. MLOSA is like a "fly on the wall" which observes normal operation and records if there are threats and errors during the maintenance process, then evaulates the maintenance process.
