Leadership is one of the focuses of the aircraft maintenance industry in developing safety programs. Therefore, leaders and leadership in aircraft maintenance organizations are specifically regulated in regulations. In the GMF Safety Management Manual (SMM) Part 1.2.6, it was stated that the highest leadership in safety is the Accountable Manager (CEO) and the Safety Manager (VP) from the Quality Assurance & Safety Service. In addition, there is a safety working group in each department, namely the SAG (Safety Action Group). The SAG structure consists of a SAG Chairman led by VP or SM for Outstation Line Maintenance and they were assisted by the SAG Secretary and members of SAG (Safety Messenger).

In 2021, PT Garuda Maintenance Facility AeroAsia Tbk made changes to the organizational structure of the Safety Management System (SMS), which there are changes to the Accountable Manager and Safety Manager. Since August 2021, Andi Fahrurorzi was appointed as CEO and Accountable Manager at PT Garuda Maintenance Facility AeroAsia Tbk. And also, Arif Sugianto was appointed as Vice President of the Quality Assurance & Safety Department who also act as Safety Manager. With the change in the SMS organizational structure, it is expected to enhance the safety level at PT Garuda Maintenance Facility AeroAsia Tbk.
