Aircraft Parking During New Normal
- August 2020

The pandemic brings impacts to all aspects of our lives in social, economic, education and others. In these days, many things have changed. Even though the recovery is slowly being carried out, in fact there are still many companies that have not been able to operate normally, including air transportation companies. At present, although many flights have opened, the intensity is still far than before, so that the number of aircraft that standby or on ground become larger. This is also directly proportional to the parking slot at the airport and hangar.

At GMF, the increasing number of aircraft parked but with limited slot is a challenge. GMF also impacted by make a greater effort to regulate parking. However, GMF continues strive to always ensure that there are no incidents or accidents caused by the current conditions. Several methods are used to minimize unnecessary movement on the aircraft, by controlling the standby airplane parking with the scheduled aircraft, so when the scheduled aircraft will be towed, there is no need to move the aircraft that is indeed being maintained. Likewise, with the arrangement of the distance between parked aircraft, and always try to refer to applicable procedures.

To overcome this, Hazard Identification, Risk Assessment, and Mitigation (HIRAM) was carried out to open new parking lots in other areas. Thus, several aircraft without maintenance for a long time can be separated so as not to interfere with operational maintenance in some areas with heavy traffic.[tqy]
