Before we talk about the definition of fulfilling Quality & Safety Compliance (QSC), first you need to understand the meaning of the words quality and safety. The meaning of quality according to ISO 9000: 2015 is "to what extent a set of inherent characteristics meets the requirements." The word safety, according to the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) in the Safety Management System (SMS) Annex 19 is "Conditions where the possibility of damage to people or property damage decreases to and is maintained at or below the level, the acceptable level through the hazard identification process and sustainable safety risk management."

Furthermore, definition of quality is a broader concept of safety. Quality defines the identification of customer requirements, determining objectives and indicators for measurement. Designing processes to achieve goals, assigning the resources needed to carry out the process. Carry out this process in accordance with standard design, measuring process performance. As well as building a process of continuous improvement, to prevent and correct non-conformities. Safety refers to identifying hazards of the process, causes and potential consequences. In addition, to estimate and evaluate risks, determine actions, avoid, prevent or reduce the possibility of risks. Equally, an emergency plan to reduce losses and damage in the event of risk. Quality is the concept of integration, meanwhile safety is an attribute of quality, which is also the goal of quality. Safety must be integrated into management process.

Therefore, when we refer to the concept of quality, safety is implied in it. Compliance itself is conformity with a predetermined standard, both quality and safety aspects. This is to guarantee a delivery with certain standards. If likened, quality is a company and safety is a pillar of the company itself. So, between quality and safety is a unity, the achievement depends on how strong the pillar was formed to produce a product. A good quality cannot be achieved without a good safety culture. We can see about incidents or accidents, even fatal accidents that cause many victims, both during maintenance and in flight. The cause is average due to human error (ref. American NTSB report). This means, how the application of safety culture really determines the quality of product delivery. Quality & safety compliance is fundamental for an organization in achieving its corporate goals, to increase brand and profit. [TQY]
